VICalert

Idea:

This idea will cover all manner of alerts and warnings for Victorians, from households and transport and general Victorian community bulletins and reminders. From bushfire and storm alerts for householders, to traffic jams and roadworks. The basic outline on the household section would be for you to add your details into the system of the houses you own or reside in.

And then when/if there is an alert for that area and region, then you will receive an alert for your area giving you information regarding dangers and warnings. This can be very specific information for fire alerts and warnings, all the way through to basic general weather warnings.(very important for regional areas)

On the traffic side, you can plan a journey on a map with time/route and method, then see where roadworks are, accidents and general traffic issues such as road closures and where events will be, to help avoid these areas and increase traffic efficiency. This will also extend to public transport also and you can see if a trainline/tramline/bus system is experiencing delays or issues and make it a requirement for those groups to keep their systems information updated. Obviously the government can then add alerts like elections, enrolment dates, sites at where you can vote and other requirements of its citizens along those lines.

Things of general and community interest can also be a section, so councils can each add to this section, so free events and community events and weekend markets can be added, again by using the household information gathered we could pinpoint specific information, giving you activities to do and contribute to the community you live in.

I belive that this app would not only potentially be livesaving for some Victorian residents, and help them on a day to day basis with troublesome issues like transport, but also given Victorians a better sense of community and get more people involved within our communities.
